Abstract
Objective: To evaluate teaching through videos as a training strategy for healthcare workers in four municipalities in the interior of Amazonas state in the correct handling of PPE’s (Personal Protective Equipment) during aerosol-generating procedures. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was carried out with professionals from 4 municipalities in the interior of Amazonas. The knowledge about PPE handling was validated by a multiple-choice questionnaire, through the Google Forms platform, which addressed the key events of donning and doffing during the performance of aerosol-generating procedures. The questionnaire was applied before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the presentation of the videos, evaluating the evolution of the answers. Results: The study included 80 healthcare workers, with a mean age of 35.9 years, and most of them were female (61.3%). There was a percentage increase in 7 of the 12 questions, with significant statistical improvement in questions 4 (p<0.001), which dealt with the sequence of PPE donning, and 8 (p<0.001), addressing the use of the N95 mask. Conclusion: Professional training through remote mechanisms presents itself as a valuable resource for the dissemination of knowledge for health workers in the interior of Amazonas, who suffer from the isolation caused by the pandemic and the lack of infrastructure.
