Abstract
Objective: To identify and describe intergenerational programs and practices, their methodology, challenges and benefits for the quality of life of different age groups, from an academic perspective. Methods: Integrative literature review based on 33 articles available on Pubmed, Scopus and Virtual Health Library platforms, through the combination of descriptors. The analysis of the articles categorized the content of the practices and their inscriptions. Results: The areas of knowledge identified in intergenerational practices were health, education and teaching, art and culture, technology, architecture and urbanism, environment and communication. The most developed and published projects were investigative, with universities and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) being the main organizers. A large part of the projects provides the relationship of the elderly with other age groups, which, in the end, presented as greater benefits mental well-being, the development of new skills and the improvement in the perception between the groups. As a challenge, there is mainly the lack of continuity in practices. Final Considerations: The elderly seem to be the most studied in the projects and also the most benefited by them. Few publications on the subject and the incomplete methodology of the practices were the most restricted for the production of the article.
