Abstract
Objective: To identify the use of spatial distribution as a strategy for tracking syphilis. Methods: This is an integrative review carried out in six stages in LILACS, IBECS, BDENF, PUBMED/MEDLINE, SciELO and Web of Science databases through a search with controlled MeSH/DeCS descriptors crossed with Boolean operators and and or (Syphilis and “Spatial Analysis” and “Mass Screening” or “Secondary Prevention” or “Early Diagnosis”). The search resulted in 415 articles, of which 14 met the pre-established eligibility criteria. Results: There was unanimity regarding the use of spatial distribution as a method of tracking syphilis, with 71.4% of the studies pointing out that the use of the tool allows identifying hot spot areas for targeting health promotion and prevention actions. syphilis and 28.6% describe actions such as tracking measures, active search, health education and testing. Conclusion: The spatial distribution is a strategic tool to identify priority points for health intervention and syphilis screening practice. Thus, its application as a tool to help track syphilis contributes to carrying out actions to combat and control syphilis, optimizes and improves the process of surveillance and health care.
