Abstract

Objective: To analyze temporally and spatially cervical cancer mortality in Brazil and its regions from 2001 to 2020. Methods: Ecological study with data from the Mortality Information System on cervical cancer in Brazil from 2001 to 2020 Mortality rates were calculated. The temporal trend was estimated using JoinPoint and the spatial analysis was performed using the Kernel Map. Results: In the spatial period evaluated, the mean PMS in Brazil was 8.08 per 100,000 women (Standard deviation SD=0.46). The region with the highest average was the North, with 16.07 (SD=1.46). The temporal trend in Brazil, Northeast and Midwest was stationary (p<0.05). In the North, the pattern was one of growth with 1.8% per year, while in the South there was a decrease with -1.4% per year and in the Southeast -2.6% per year. The spatial analysis of Brazil showed high densities of rates in the interior areas of the Northeast and Southeast regions. Conclusion: In the period from 2001 to 2020, mortality from cervical cancer in Brazil was high, with an increasing trend in the North region, while in the Southeast and South there was a pattern of reduction in mortality rates.
