Abstract

Objective: To analyze in the existing literature the impact of COVID-19 on adolescents and their families. Methods: Integrative review, with searches performed in PubMed, Medline and LILACS databases, performing the crossing of the descriptors "COVID-19", "Adolescent", "Family" with the Boolean operator "AND". The PRISMA strategy was used to include articles published between 2020 and 2022, with full text available, in English, Portuguese and Spanish and that contemplated the theme, reaching a final sample of 18 articles. Results: Studies from different continents have been identified, addressing various phases of the pandemic, enabling a broad comparison between the different world realities of adolescents and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the main findings is the initial interest with risk groups and higher mortality rate. However, there was later an increase in cases of COVID-19 and severity among young people. Final considerations: The COVID-19 pandemic has a huge impact on the lives of adolescents and their families, affecting not only physical health, but also mental health, socioeconomic and affective conditions. Despite the comprehensive findings, they converge on the need to research more, expand scenarios and approaches.
