Abstract
Objective: To structure the theoretical knowledge produced about how nursing professionals deal with the pain of severely burned patients. Methods: This is a descriptive, bibliographic, integrative review of the literature type carried out in the period of December 2022 through a bibliographical survey in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Sciences, Base de Dados em Enfermagem and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online utilizing PubMed, Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement portal, Virtual Health Library and Scientific Electronic Library Online. Results: The final sample consists of 12 studies, selected according to the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. After analyzing and interpreting the findings, two thematic categories were defined: “knowledge of the nursing team about the care and assistance for severely burned patients” and “adversities in the care and assistance for severely burned patients by the nursing team”. Final Considerations: Through this review, the need for qualification of the nursing team regarding the care and assistance provided by these professionals to severely burned patients was evidenced, also, the necessity of considering the mental and physiological aspects resulting from the burn and carrying out adequate dimensioning to the demands of large burns patients.
