Abstract

Objective: To estimate the incidence of clinical deterioration and its related factors. Methods: This is a study with a quantitative, longitudinal and observational approach. Performed in a large hospital, which provides urgent and emergency care, with a focus on traumatology. The research followed all the rules of Resolution 466/2012 and all research participants signed the Term of Consent and Free Clarification. Results: The study sample consisted of 346 trauma victims, of whom 23 presented clinical worsening and five died. The incidence rate of clinical deterioration in trauma patients was 66.5 per thousand patients. He found a statistically significant relationship between clinical deterioration and length of stay; median of days of the week of physical activity practice; presence of comorbidities; the trauma mechanism and the outcome of the case. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate the importance of early recognition of clinical deterioration, since decision-making regarding the aggravation of the clinical condition will contribute to increasing the survival of trauma victims.
