Abstract
Objective: To search the scientific literature for evidence on the use of negative pressure therapy in wound care. Methodology: The study refers to an integrative literature review, the search for articles was performed in the PubMed databases of the National Library of Medicine and Virtual Health Library through the association of the following descriptors: Wounds and injuries, injuries, wound closure. The study included the primary articles, available in their entirety, published in the last 5 years, in any language that met the theme of the study and excluded from the research the book chapters, abstracts, incomplete texts, theses, dissertations and technical reports. Result: Negative pressure therapy is an effective therapeutic method in the treatment of acute and complex chronic wounds. The method allows greater control over the wound environment by reducing edema, removing exudate and infectious material, and allowing the use of topical solutions directly on the affected tissues, thus creating a favorable environment for wound healing by stimulating tissue formation. granulation and perfusion. Conclusion: It is concluded that negative pressure therapy has revolutionized wound care, especially the treatment of more complex wounds by helping to reduce wound closure time and length of hospital stay.
