Abstract
Objective: To know the social representations of the servers of a Regional Health Superintendence of Minas Gerais about the vaccine against Covid-19. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, qualitative study, based on Moscovici's Theory of Social Representations with a structural approach. 96 civil servants from different sectors participated in the survey. A free word evocation questionnaire was applied in electronic form in March 2021, the information was processed by the EVOC® and CHIC® software. Results: The central core of the social representations was composed of the evocations: hope, health, immunity, protection and efficacy, the word hope appears as a specific aspect of the representation of the vaccine against the coronavirus, while the other words refer to the literal meaning of vaccine. In the peripheries, the themes of vaccine reliability, social impacts of the disease emerged and in the contrast zone, the words doubt, cure and salvation, indicate positive expectations, but, to a certain extent, cautious. Conclusion: The term hope is reactive to the context of the pandemic, it is noted that the other evocations, except the word doubt, are related to the prospect of a return to normality from the vaccine against the coronavirus. Vaccination hesitation referred to in this group is like that found in the Brazilian population in general, even though they are health workers.
