Abstract

Objective: To investigate in the scientific literature the importance of health care for children with Down Syndrome in cardiac surgeries. Methods: This is a literature review study, of the integrative review type, with timeless delimitation, carried out from December 2022 to January 2023 carried out in the databases: LILACS, MEDLINE, SCOPUS, and the Scientific Electronic library Library Online. Results: 1.421 studies were found, however, at the end of the analysis process, only 12 productions were included in the study. Difficulties were observed in providing effective care for children who live with Down Syndrome and who need medical interventions due to their health specificities and cardiac syndrome conditions, highlighting the need for further studies on these issues. Final considerations: There was a lack of studies on the access of children with Down Syndrome who underwent cardiac surgery to health services that fully contemplate them. These difficulties are related to the lack of early diagnosis.
