Abstract

Objective: To analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the educational scenario, presenting the main challenges faced by professors and students in medical education. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, whose data were collected from the National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (BVS), using the following descriptors as inclusion and exclusion criteria: “COVID-19”, “medical training” and “teachers”, “students”, “teaching and learning” Results: After analysis, it was found that the COVID-19 pandemic 19 generated several impacts, the main one being the suspension of face-to-face classes, however, the barriers in medical education in this period can still be divided into four levels: (1) barriers of institutions and teaching; (2) infrastructure and technology; (3) student barriers and (4) barriers experienced by educators. Final considerations: Despite the challenges imposed by distance learning, technology has opened a flexible path to the classic model of face-to-face classes through adaptation based on remote teaching, however, the greatest limitation concerns the quality of practical classes, corroborating that teaching distance still poses a major challenge to acquiring adequate clinical skills.
