Abstract

Objective: To analyze the perception of nursing students regarding the factors that influence the development of skills and competencies in Realistic Simulation in a Higher Education Institution (HEI) with an active methodology. Methods: Descriptive, qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. The sample consisted of 31 nursing students from the Faculdade Pernambucana de Saúde. Data collection took place in April 2021 through five focus groups conducted online. For data analysis, the Thematic Content Analysis technique was used. This research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculdade Pernambucana de Saúde, under number 39144620.5.0000.5569/2021. Results: Content analysis resulted in eight categories: Realistic Simulation and Theoretical Understanding, Realistic Simulation and Technical Skills, Realistic Simulation and Emotional Skills, Realistic Simulation and Behavioral Skills, Realistic Simulation and Active Methodologies, Realistic Simulation and Material Resources, Realistic Simulation and Student-tutor relationship and Realistic Simulation and Teaching-Learning Strategies. Conclusion: The research findings reinforce the perception that Realistic Simulations allow for the intensive development of cognitive, theoretical, social, behavioral, technical and practical skills in student education.
