Abstract
Objective: To describe and present the importance of Cannabidiol in the therapeutic use in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Bibliographic review: AD is the most common form of dementia, is among the incurable diseases and is classified as neurodegenerative. Pathology that begins when some proteins are installed in the central nervous system and begin to develop physiological activities inaproprialety, with progressive loss of neurons in some regions of the brain. The therapeutic use of cannabidiol in the treatment of AD is effective as a neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agent, postponing the disease. Doses of the phytocannabinoid Cannabidiol (CBD) reduce the accumulation of a protein in the brain called beta-amyloid, which is the main culprit in the onset of Alzheimer’s, as this protein affects the synapses and signals to the neuron’s inflammation cells, causing these cells to be destroyed. Final Considerations: According to research carried out on the role of cannabidiol in diseases of the Central Nervous System (CNS), CBD has the ability to reduce the symptoms of AD.
