Abstract
Objective: To describe the main types of coronavirus in humans reported in the literature and their diagnosis, in order to provide reliable guidance on this topic of great public health importance in the current context. Bibliographic review: Coronaviruses have been studied since the 1930s in episodes of infections among animals. The first case in humans was in 1960. The viruses with clinical repercussions in humans were SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2. covid-19 was the most aggressive, being responsible for millions of deaths worldwide. This disease has left traces of irreparable political, social, economic and public health damage, mitigated only after vaccination of the population. The disease prevention method continues to be based on diagnosis biosafety measures and vaccination. The gold standard in the diagnosis is configured in RT-PCR and the treatment has not yet been established with a consensus among researchers. Final considerations: The coronavirus has drawn the attention of scientists and laymen. Coronaviruses have been researched for decades, but with the threat to human health, the deepening of research on the subject has increased.
