Abstract

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological profile of Zika and Dengue flaviviruses in the North region of Brazil from 2017 to 2021. Methods: The DATASUS platform was used to verify Zika and Dengue cases in the North region of Brazil, encompassing each state that represents it in a 5-year interval (2017 to 2021). Results: A strong discrepancy was observed in the individual values of each state in the region over the years for both diseases. For Zika, the state of Tocantins had the biggest drop in cases (3261 cases in 2017 and 747 cases in 2021), while the state of Acre showed an increase (293 cases in 2017 and 609 cases in 2021). This same increase in cases in Acre was observed for Dengue (1860 cases in 2017 and 15430 cases in 2021), and in turn, the state of Pará showed a decrease (7864 cases in 2017 and 5616 cases in 2021). Conclusion: There is a disparity in the maintenance of diseases in the states during the 5 years, with a focus on underreporting as a possible cause.
