Abstract

Objective: To analyze the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the management of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in pediatric patients with diabetes and hypertension. Methods: This is an integrative literature review, the searches took place between January and February 2023, through the databases: BVS, SCIELO, LILACS and Acervo+ Index Base. The Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) were: Noncommunicable Chronic Diseases, Children, Hypertension and Diabetes. The inclusion criteria were: free studies, in Portuguese and within the time frame of 2018 and 2023. The exclusion criteria were repeated studies, out of scope, incomplete, theses and course conclusion works. After selecting the articles, only 7 studies were chosen to integrate the final sample. Results: Hypertension and diabetes can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, eye disease and neuropathies, both diseases can cause damage to organs, nerves and blood vessels, so treatment requires several different specialties to treat numerous varieties of damage caused. Final considerations: It is considered that pediatric patients with NCDs need several professionals to face and overcome the various difficulties in managing the diseases. Therefore, joint and multidisciplinary work makes the treatments better executed.
