Abstract
Objective: To analyze the factors associated with adequate prenatal care in the state of Pernambuco. Methods: Population-based, observational, cross-sectional study with descriptive and analytical objectives. Secondary data extracted from the database of the IV State Health and Nutrition Survey were used. They understood the factors associated with sociodemographic, environmental, obstetric and biological variables. After eligibility criteria, the sample of mothers was estimated at 880 women. Results: Women aged between 25 and 35 years old, with complete secondary education, who did not work and with a per capita income of less than half a minimum wage, were prevalent. The variables age at first pregnancy and distance to the health unit maintained an association with adequacy of prenatal care. Conclusion: It is concluded that the factors associated with the outcome variable were only age at first pregnancy and distance to the health unit, and that the other sociodemographic, obstetric and biological factors reflect social inequality, showing that the most socially vulnerable groups receive prenatal care. -handicapped birth.
