Abstract
Objective: To review and compile scientific productions about the therapeutic effects of the plant Anredera cordifolia. Methods: Integrative literature review, presenting the question: What are the therapeutic effects of the plant Anredera cordifolia in laboratory studies with humans, animals and cellular models? Data collection was carried out in the PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases, in January 2023. The findings were grouped into thematic categories related to the therapeutic effects of the plant Anredera cordifolia, with subsequent review/synthesis and discussion of knowledge. Results: The sample consisted of 33 articles that met the selection criteria. Scientific evidence on the therapeutic effects of the plant is centered on its healing action, antibacterial, analgesic, antihypertensive, antihyperuricemic, antihyperlipidemic and cytotoxic activity. And in the treatment of renal failure, anti-obesity, anti-hyperglycemic, anti-cataratogenesis effects, effects on learning and memory in rats, as well as improving fertility in rats. Final considerations: The study allowed concluding the therapeutic effects of the plant Anredera cordifolia, described with cicatricial action, antibacterial, analgesic, antihypertensive, antihyperuricemic, antihyperlipidemic and cytotoxic activity. And in the treatment of renal failure, anti-obesity effect, anti-hyperglycemic effect, anti-cataratogenesis effect, effects on learning, memory and fertility. It also demonstrated the absence of studies developed by Brazilian researchers.
