Abstract
Objective: To demonstrate how non-pharmacological treatment can assist in reducing blood pressure levels in patients with systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), highlighting its effects on the patient. Bibliographic review: Regarding the non-pharmacological aspects of SAH treatment, studies have shown substantial benefits to adherent patients following balanced diets, engaging in physical exercise, and utilizing alternative therapies such as acupuncture. These interventions have a low cost, minimal risk, and proven efficacy in controlling and reducing blood pressure, while also enabling the prevention of possible complications of the condition. However, it is important to emphasize that in severe and advanced cases of this condition, pharmacological treatment is indispensable, but when combined with these therapeutic measures, the results can be even more satisfactory and long-lasting. Furthermore, another relevant factor when prescribing non-pharmacological approaches is the potential non-compliance of patients with new habits, which is common in this group. Final considerations: Non-pharmacological treatment can significantly assist in reducing blood pressure and contribute to a significant improvement in the patient's quality of life.
