Abstract

Objective: To validate the content of the educational booklet entitled Patients for Hospitalized Patient Safety. Methods: Methodological study for validation of a booklet that obeyed the following steps: content review, organization of items for evaluation, instrument structuring, expert opinion, content validation by the Content Validity Index (CVI) that allows for relevance classification of content per item and expresses the proportion of agreement between judges. Nine judges participated in the validation stage. An index equal to or greater than 0.80 was considered desirable for content validation. Results: The booklet was positively evaluated by nine judges, and obtained a Scale-Level Content Validity Index (S-CVI) = 0.95 resulting from the proportion of items evaluated as relevant and very relevant, evidencing the relevance of the content. The booklet underwent a review process that included the suggestions, making it clearer, more objective and more pleasant to read. Conclusion: The educational material was validated and achieved satisfactory results in terms of content, appearance and theme relevance. It is expected that the booklet will contribute to the promotion of knowledge and encourage the participation of patients, as well as their families, in their own safety.
