Abstract
Objective: This study aims to present the scientific concepts for aesthetic dentistry that are increasingly relevant in clinical everyday life and among the possibilities of aesthetic dental treatments, one of the most sought after today is tooth whitening. Literature review: Tooth whitening is in high demand in dental clinics and currently there are two main ways: home technique and office technique, which can also be used in a related way for the same patient. Although it is a conservative treatment, the excessive use of this agent can cause damage to oral structures. Both forms contain the same bleaching agent, but are used in different concentrations, therefore, each protocol, characteristics, side effects, post-bleaching sensitivity and post-bleaching tooth sensitivity mechanism are different. Final considerations: We can consider that bleaching can be done in different ways on different patients and ultimately both achieve the same results. Even if well guided and accompanied by a dental surgeon, the result of dental whitening will be to obtain whiter teeth with minimal or no adverse reactions.
