Abstract
Objective: Review the methods indicated to reduce the sensitivity associated with the bleaching treatment. Methods: This is a qualitative exploratory descriptive research of the integrative literature review type, where scientific articles from 2018 to 2022 were used, found in LILACS, BVS, SCIELO and ACERVO+ Index base. Results: 14 articles were selected, from which 3 categories emerged: Bleaching techniques; Sensitivity; Prevention of sensitivity associated with tooth whitening. These categories show techniques to perform tooth whitening, as well as techniques to reduce tooth sensitivity. Final Considerations: There are two techniques used for tooth whitening, the homemade and the office one, and the dentist can associate them or not, whitening can also be carried out with the use of violet light. These techniques were studied and developed for the best comfort of the patient, and to achieve the satisfaction of a beautiful smile, which is what many seek, however, these techniques may present tooth sensitivity as an adverse reaction, requiring techniques and means that minimize this It is made.
