Abstract

Objective: To investigate the perceptions of residents and preceptors of medical residency programs in anesthesiology in Brazil about educational evaluation, regarding the use of the Ministry of Education (MEC) curricular matrix, evaluation methods, satisfaction and expectations regarding the program in the context of professional skills. Methods: Study based on an online questionnaire (survey) applied to anesthesiologists and residents with 275 participants, 95% confidence interval, 5.88% margin of error, Mann-Whitney statistical test. Results: The situation of educational assessment in residencies is heterogeneous, preferring cognitive tests of low taxonomic level and does not seem to stimulate learning; there is a potential shortage of practice scenarios, and the record of assessments made may not clearly demonstrate the evolution of the resident's learning. The survey demonstrated a neutral position regarding satisfaction with the evaluation methodology in use, with greater satisfaction for CET/SBA services when compared to MEC services. Conclusion: As a warning sign, it was clear that the majority of respondents were unaware of the existence of the competency matrix published by MEC and that the majority (88.3%) of respondents agree that the educational assessment method should be improved.
