Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and implementation of Evidence-Based Practice in the routine of physical therapists working in Intensive Care Units in a municipality in the state of Rondônia, Brazil. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted with physical therapists working in Intensive Care Units, comprising a sample of 39 professionals. The Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire-20 (EBPQ-20) was administered between September and December 2022. Statistical analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk, Mann-Whitney, t-Student, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Spearman correlation coefficient tests. Results: 59% of the participants were women, the most prevalent age group was 20 to 30 years, with 56.4%, and 76.9% had graduated less than 10 years ago. The final mean scores for the domains were: Practice 5.03 ± 1.41, Attitudes 6.18 ± 0.78, and Knowledge/Skills 4.87 ± 1.13, with a total average score of 102.33 ± 20.93. Conclusion: The professionals recognize the importance of adopting scientific evidence; however, professionals with more than 10 years of experience showed lower mean and median scores in the domains of practice and attitudes. The main barriers identified in the study were related to competencies in information technology (IT) and research. It was also found that the knowledge and practice domains showed a high correlation.
