Abstract
Objective: To highlight the main causes and consequences of obesity in adolescent pregnant women. Method: A descriptive-discursive bibliographic study, carried out by reviewing the scientific literature. Results and Discussion: Adolescence is linked to intense transformations and discoveries that are related to the transition from childhood to adulthood. This phase, seen as learning, has been associated with an increase in cases of preterm gestation. Associated with this is the fact that adolescence is a stage in which eating habits are, for the most part, erroneous, thus influencing excessive weight gain, thus leading the young person to become overweight / obese. Final considerations: The prevention of preg- nant gestation and its aggravations is the incentive to use contraceptive methods, encourage public policies regarding family planning and the orientation of continuous changes in the eating and life habits of adolescents.
