Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the impact of the post-pandemic scenario on alcohol abuse, evaluating individually and socially. Methods: An integrative review was carried out following the guidelines of the PRISMA Declaration, using the PubMed MEDLINE database, through the descriptors "Alcoholism" and "COVID-19", where 3246 articles were obtained. Results: Among the articles surveyed, the sum of participants was 1,694,829 patients, with designs selected from the European, Asian and North American continents. It was observed from the analysis of the included studies that alcohol abuse, in addition to being considered a psychological problem, causes considerable damage to the physical health of those who consume it and social problems for the community. In line with this, there was an increase in the prevalence of alcohol consumption during the pandemic, which directly impacted the health systems of first world countries. Final considerations: Among the main impacts found from the pandemic scenario, the increase in gastrointestinal diseases due to alcohol abuse and the worsening of psychological problems can be highlighted.
