Abstract

Objective: To describe the practice experienced by nursing students in the use of the Therapeutic Toy (TT) during the exchange of chest drain dressings in a reference hospital in pulmonology in the North region. Experience report: This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, developed by undergraduate nursing students from a Federal University in the North Region, sixth semester, in the practices of Curricular Activity of Pediatric Nursing in a Pediatric Ward of a secondary and tertiary reference hospital, located in Belém, Pará, in October 2022. Through the insertion of the Instructional Therapeutic Toy (ITT), by students under faculty guidance, during chest drain dressing changes, it was experienced the changes in behavior that the implementation of the practice has during the health-disease process of children and its reflections on the relationships built in the intra-hospital environment. Final considerations: Based on the practices, it was possible to understand the importance of the TT in the pediatric scenario, especially its use in chest drain dressings, substantiating its use as a pediatric resource, and the pertinence of its scientific validation, instrumentalizing the nursing team as an adjuvant in pediatric care.
