Abstract

Objective: Perform analysis and description of the main information available on the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of epidemic arboviruses in Brazil: Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika. Bibliographic review: Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika are the most important arboviruses in the Brazilian epidemiological scenario, due to the morbidity they cause annually. The similar symptomatology they present makes it difficult to make an accurate clinical diagnosis and favors an increase in complications and serious sequelae. Thus, laboratory diagnosis for confirmation and adoption of appropriate clinical management is necessary. Molecular methods (RT-PCR) are considered the most efficient due to their speed and specificity in the diagnosis. Even with the advancement of a vaccine to combat dengue, the control of arboviruses transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito still inspires the association of a series of parameters in public health, with a focus on reducing vector populations. Final considerations: Understanding the structure and pathogenicity of arboviruses is essential to achieve success with control measures, in order to reduce the occurrence of outbreaks, the number of deaths, the occurrence of sequelae and the burden that these diseases cause to public safes.
