Abstract

Objective: To compile scientific studies that describe potential relationships between polymorphisms in the ABCA1, ADRB3, and SH2B1 and DM2 genes. Methods: Systematic review according to the PRISMA model and PICO strategy, based on the guiding question: “Which polymorphisms in the ABCA1, ADRB3 and SH2B1 genes are related to type 2 diabetes mellitus?”. The articles were searched in the databases. PubMed and VHL, according to defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. 1266 articles were found, after analysis, only 15 entered definitively to compose the review. Results: The association between DM2 and polymorphisms in the ABCA1 or ADRB3 genes is diverse and depends on the type of study, the number of patients and the nationality of those involved. Although there is a discreet publication that deals with the investigation of the relationship of SNPs in the SH2B1 and ADRB3 genes with DM2. In the SH2B1 gene, two SNPs possibly associated with DM2 were investigated. Final considerations: The discovery of the mechanisms that guide the relationship between DM2 and the genes studied in this review, based on their polymorphisms, is promising. in DM2.
