Abstract

Objective: To associate demographic and clinical characteristics, barriers to the practice of physical activity, and quality of life related to the health conditions of people with visual impairment according to the total physical activity spent. Methods: Empirical, descriptive, exploratory, quantitative and cross-sectional study, involving 86 people with visual impairment, without physical or intellectual impairments to data collection. For data collection, demographic and clinical forms, IPAQ-8, SF-12, Measurement of Perception of Barriers to the Practice of Physical Activities, BREQ were used. Data were processed using IBM SPSS software version 20.0, where statistical tests of normality, Simple and Multiple Linear Regression (backward method) were performed. Results: Among the participants, adult men predominate, without comorbidities, eutrophic, with physical QoL scores of 42.2 and mental QOL of 44.1 points. The main barriers that present the greatest difficult impacts are the lack of financial resources as a reason for not practicing, and the lack of available equipment as the main cause. Conclusion: It was possible to conclude that visually impaired people with higher values in total metabolic equivalents tend to have higher scores in the mental component of quality of life related to health conditions, especially among men, regardless of each of the final independent variables.
