Abstract

Objective: To carry out a literature review on Oral Manifestations associated with COVID-19, providing a better scope and understanding of the topic in which it has great relevance for the dental field. Bibliographic Review: In this sense, the relationship between the mouth and the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 is evident in the present study, in addition to the importance of knowledge of this association and manifestations as a consequence on the part of dentists, for a correct diagnosis and treatment of injuries resulting in the improvement of the general health of the patient. The mouth serves as a gateway for the virus, in addition to providing an ideal environment for colonization, this happens due to the affinity of SARS-CoV-2 to Angiotensin Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE 2) which has a significant expressiveness in tissues and saliva, which may lead to oral lesions. Final considerations: Finally, it is concluded that the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has caused several changes in the health environment, bringing with it the need for adaptations to provide it with safety and resolution the exercise of the function, since it is a highly transmitted disease whose repercussions are still being studied.
