Abstract

Objective: To identify in the scientific literature which care strategies are used by nurses with elderly people undergoing Polypharmacy treatment in primary care. Methods: Integrative review, using the strategy: Population, Interest and Context (PICo) to prepare the research question. The search was carried out in three databases from August to October 2022. The following inclusion criteria were used: complete articles available in full, published in bibliographic databases without time frame and in any language. Review articles, dissertations, theses, reports, experience reports, opinion articles, case studies, duplicate articles, which had no relation to the topic and which did not respond to the research objective were eliminated. Results: 11 articles were found, mostly Randomized Clinical Trials with level of evidence II and degree of recommendation A. The main strategies found were: motivational interview; integrated intervention; educational intervention; integrated medication review; guided care; periodic nursing consultation. Final considerations: It is considered that the strategies found are proven to be linked to the quality of care for the elderly and the success of pharmacological therapeutic adherence. By implementing them, the nurse reduces the appearance of adverse reactions and drug interactions.
