Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this research is to describe and discuss the experiences of participants in the Education through Work for Health Program - Interprofessionality (PET-Saúde), a collaboration between the Federal University of Southern Bahia and the Health Secretariat of the municipality of Teixeira de Freitas/Bahia. Experience report: The project established five Tutoring Groups to focus on primary care, with activities focusing on children, the elderly, chronic diseases, mental health, and integrative and complementary therapies. These activities were attended by faculty, students from health courses, and network health professionals. The initiative allowed for the acquisition, development, and application of shared and collaborative abilities in interprofessional education and work over the course of two years, employing both face-to-face and remote learning approaches. Final considerations: Despite being challenged by the covid-19 pandemic, the project was able to build an experience of interprofessional actions that considered the methodological principles of interprofessional education and work, as well as advances on the topic within the university and health network, through adaptations. Nonetheless, despite the implementation obstacles, PET-Saúde has proven to be an effective tool for promoting interprofessionality in the setting of public health.
