Abstract

Objective: To identify the available scientific evidence on safety of care in dialysis therapy from the nurses´ perspectives. Methods: This is an integrative literature review that selected scientific articles from the VHL, Scopus and Web of Science databases. The following question was adopted: “What safety strategies are used by the nursing team in the care of patients with chronic kidney disease?” and the descriptors "Nursing", "Nurse", "Care Safety", "Safe Care", "Patient Safety", "Chronic Kidney Disease", "Kidney Dialysis" and "Hemodialysis" were used. Publications in English, Spanish and Portuguese, published between 2012 and 2022, were chosen. Result: 26 studies were listed as the main findings and that guided the debate on the subject and it was possible to infer that safety in dialysis is favored by the use of technologies, which mostly signal the opportunity of events. Final considerations: The study contributed to reflections on the practice of nursing in dialysis therapy and points to the need for studies that deal with the workload and stress of this professional category.
