Abstract

Objective: To describe the pharmacotherapeutic follow-up methods used in outpatient and hospital settings. Methods: This study is an integrative review of national and international literature. The research was carried out from May to June 2022 in the databases: BVS, Scielo and PubMed, using the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): Pharmaceutical care; Pharmacotherapeutic follow-up; Pharmacotherapy. The search considered the Boolean connector: “AND” and “OR”. Using the time frame from 2006 to 2021. Results: The search resulted in 1,938 studies, including articles, dissertations and theses published in Portuguese, English. After reading the titles and abstracts of the studies, and applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 16 articles were selected, which described studies on pharmacotherapeutic monitoring of outpatient and hospitalized adult patients. Final considerations: What is observed is that despite the existence of some methodologies already validated for the systematization of pharmacotherapeutic follow-up, there is no universal methodology for outpatients and/or hospitalized patients, the ideal is to customize or adapt the existing methods to the reality of each place according to the profile of the patient to be monitored.
