Abstract

Objective: To recognize, describe and explore the scientific production about nursing care during the hospitalization of newborns and children with congenital heart disease. Methods: Descriptive study with a quantitative approach based on bibliometric analysis. Results: 420 studies were identified in the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (47), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (279), Scopus (91) and Web of Science (3). It was noted that most of the documents were published in English, in the form of articles, with publications beginning in 1947 and reaching the peak in 2018. Publications in international scientific journals stood out and a group of authors with greater prestige in the scientific area and who are considered references for other authors was identified. In the zoning of terms, the words “Congenital Heart Disease” and “Nursing” had higher frequencies. Final considerations: It was shown that the literary context covering nursing care for newborns and children with heart disease is limited in the databases studied. It is important to encourage scientific communication in order to contribute to the literature.
