Abstract

Objective: To discuss the processes, practices and structure of groups used in the promotion of mental health of adolescents. Methods: Integrative review. Data collection took place in October 2022, in the following databases: lilacs; Medline; Embase; Scopus; web of Science; Science direct; Doaj; cinahl; Eric; pepsic, through the Portal Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior – CAPES. We used the descriptors: adolescent; health promotion; mental health; group practice; group processes; group structure and alternative terms. The inclusion criteria were defined as full texts, available in full, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, with a time frame of the last five years. Grey literature was excluded. Results: The final sample consisted of eight primary studies. We identified that the groups can be used in different ways: consultative, rehabilitation and counseling, and can also achieve the perspectives of prevention, therapy and promotion of mental health among adolescents. The selected articles provided the creation of three thematic categories: group processes, group practices and group structure. Final considerations: We grouped significant information for the three thematic categories listed. We had less data when it came to the group structure category. Groups are important means of action on individuals and collectivities.
