Abstract

Objective: To lexically analyze the scientific evidence on the communication process of patients with laryngeal cancer. Methods: Six-step integrative review, developed using the SCOPUS, CINAHL, LILACS, PubMed Central®, MEDLINE and BDENF databases in a 10-year time frame. Sampling included primary research, organization using the Rayyan review web application, and collection by two reviewers. Data analysis was of the content type, in three stages, aided by the IraMuTeQ software. Results: The sample consisted of 22 articles, with evidence level mostly VI, from an initial universe of 273 articles. The results grouped by thematic similarity supported the categories: “Treatment and rehabilitation in the communication process of patients with laryngeal cancer” and “Quality of life in the communication process of patients with laryngeal cancer”. Final considerations: The re-establishment of communication alternatives is linked to social rehabilitation and better quality of life scores, for this to occur, interprofessional practice needs to act in the education, pre-habilitation and rehabilitation of the patient in the perioperative period and in the follow-up.
