Abstract

Objective: To report the academic experience in the use of the Delayed Bladder Catheterization Bundle in the intraoperative period. Experience report: This is a descriptive study carried out in the surgical center of a reference hospital in the capital of the State of Pará, by academics in the ninth semester of the Nursing course at a Public Higher Education Institution during the mandatory internship of the curricular activity Semi Internato in Nursing II. Indwelling bladder catheterization is an invasive procedure, in which incorrect techniques can lead to postoperative infections. For this, the Bundle is used, which is a tool that has a set of measures and techniques to be followed by the professional, in order to avoid infectious events. Thus, throughout the activity, it was possible to learn about the aforementioned instrument and apply it in practice, as a way to prevent infections and facilitate the procedure. Final considerations: The experience of using the Bundle was successful, as it allowed greater security for the executing professionals and especially for the patient, in terms of minimizing adverse risks and infections.
