Abstract
Objective: To analyze the quality of life of family caregivers of patients with schizophrenia, emphasizing the importance of studying this construct and its associated factors. Bibliographic: The difficulties faced by family caregivers of patients with schizophrenic disorder result in a negative impact on their quality of life. Therefore, studies on this theme become relevant. Several factors are associated with relatives' low quality of life. These factors include the patient's disorder characteristics and how severe their symptoms are, the sociodemographics and clinical variables, the caregivers’ burden, and the quality of the mental health support service. The caregiver’s role can affect relatives’ mental and physical health, as well as their social and economic life. The relationship between family members can also be affected. Final considerations: The quality of life of relatives taking care of patients with schizophrenic disorder constitutes an essential aspect of mental health services evaluation, seeking to have a positive impact on the quality of treatment and care being offered. In this context, the following article emphasizes the importance of studying this construct and its related factors.
