Abstract
Objective: Analyze the trend in notifications of domestic violence against women over the years and associate sociodemographic factors with the type of violence. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, ecological study was conducted using data recorded in the Injury and Notification Information System, based on notifications of interpersonal/self-inflicted violence from 2018 to 2022, involving victims aged 19 or older, within the municipality of Campina Grande. Results: A total of 258 violence notification forms were analyzed for the prevalent type of violence and its association with sociodemographic variables, as well as the characterization of the aggressors. The results reveal that the majority of victims had low levels of education, limited financial resources, and some were unable to identify certain behaviors as violence. Conclusion: This study helped to understand the characteristics of violence; however, it has weaknesses related to data underreporting and improper reporting by professionals. Thus, there is a need to implement training strategies for professionals, and it is hoped that the data presented in this study can contribute to the development of prevention and intervention actions against violence against women.
