Abstract

Objective: Conduct a search in the literature to better understand the role of tocopherols and tocotrienols in helping to fight cancer. Methods: This is an integrative review using the terms “vitamin E” AND “breast cancer” AND “estrogen” AND “oxidative stress” considering articles published in the last 10 years; the PRISMA flowchart method was used to prepare the article. Results: Eleven studies were found covering aspects in vitro, where the researchers used various types and cell lines; in vivo, whose selected animals varied from race, age and sex; and clinical, where the object of study was adult women of different age groups. Final considerations: There is cautious optimism regarding the use of vitamin E derivatives. TTs have shown greater effectiveness in controlling mechanisms in the treatment of breast cancer. Studies also report a decrease in associated complications, such as increased immunity, preventing the onset of other pathologies.
