Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of new therapeutic approaches in the treatment of Cushing's syndrome. Methods: An Integrative Review was carried out using the PubMed data platform in order to find relevant sources for this purpose. The search was carried out using the following search strategy: ("Cushing Syndrome"[MeSH]) AND ((Treatment) OR (Chronotherapy) OR (Steroid Synthesis Inhibitors) OR (Antiglucocorticoid)). Initially, there were 600 articles and, by applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 17 articles were selected for analysis in this study. Results: Studies indicate that Osilodrostat is safe and effective in controlling hypercortisolism, but it has various adverse effects. Ketoconazole is effective and safe for active disease after transsphenoidal surgery. Pasireotide improves quality of life, clinical signs, and has various side effects. 9-cis retinoic acid may be beneficial with additional adrenal effects, and S-707106 improves insulin sensitivity and reduces obesity. Levoketoconazole has shown effectiveness in clinical presentation, tolerability, and safety. Relacorilant has demonstrated clinical benefits, and Metyrapone has good solubility and safety. In cases of recurrence, some points should be considered when using external radiotherapy as adjunctive therapy. Final Considerations: The new therapeutic approaches studied can be considered safe and effective for Cushing's syndrome.
