Abstract

Objective: To map national and international scientific production on lower limb amputations resulting from diabetes mellitus. Methods: A systematic review with a sample consisting of 6 articles published between 2018 and 2022, indexed in the SciELO, LILACS, MEDLINE, and Scopus databases. The guiding question used was: What scientific productions in national and international literature address amputations resulting from diabetes mellitus. Results: The articles in the sample were published in journals with Qualis A4 and B4 ratings; among the selected journals, the American Journal of Psychiatry had the highest impact factor. The results demonstrate that the topic is relevant for discussion, given that all the studies are recent, and there is an interest on the part of researchers in disseminating results that contribute to the improvement of professional practice. Final considerations: Based on what was observed, the importance of research development in the field and the conduct of studies that serve as guidelines for the education and care of amputated diabetics is evident; furthermore, it was observed that the authors were healthcare professionals, and the studies developed by them demonstrate their maturity in writing.
