Abstract

Objective: Understand the best practices and forms of intervention used in metabolic syndrome to promote the improvement of the quality of life of these patients. Methods: This work is an integrative and descriptive review with a qualitative approach. In relation to the inclusion criteria established for the works, studies that were published, preferably between 2017 and 2022, were chosen and 10 studies were selected. Results: It was possible to observe that the main clinical manifestations are central obesity and insulin insufficiency; The main risks are directly associated with some clinical manifestation, being mainly related to obesity, leading to an increase in cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Final considerations: The risks and harms are associated with the symptoms presented. As the main symptom of risk, obesity was cited, which leads to several problems in the individual's health, not only metabolic, but also diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, among others, which can cause the person's death. It was found that the most effective treatments for improving the quality of life of individuals suffering from Metabolic Syndrome are a balanced diet and physical exercise.
