Abstract

Objective: Identify, synthesize and analyze existing scientific knowledge related to the occurrence of voiding disorders in patients with orofacial clefts. Methods: This is a scoping review. The search was carried out in the National Library of Medicine (PubMed/MEDLINE), Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), CINAHL using the descriptors and based on the following guiding question “What are the urinary disorders presented by patients with orofacial clefts in any context?”. The search strategy was registered on the Open Science Framework (OSF) platform, under DOI: 10.17605/OSF.IO/B7GMA. Results: Among the 18 studies found (bases and gray literature), four were included because they met the established criteria. Conclusion: The voiding disorders found in patients with orofacial clefts were enuresis, urinary retention, anuria, urinary tract infection, in addition to the malformation’s stenosis, hypospadias and phimosis. Such problems emphasize the need for an interprofessional approach when assisting patients with orofacial clefts.
