Abstract
Objective: To analyze studies conducted on the use of aromatherapy as a non-pharmacological practice for pain management in children. Methods: This study involves an integrative review concerning the use of aromatherapy in pediatric settings. Searches were conducted in the SciELO, PubMed, and Medline journals for articles published between 2013 and 2023. Results: Through the search in the established databases, 395 studies were identified. The titles and abstracts of these studies were read, following inclusion and exclusion criteria, leading to the exclusion of 342 articles that did not address aromatherapy in pediatrics in the initial analysis. In the second analysis, nine additional articles were excluded, resulting in nine articles included in the research. Final considerations: Aromatherapy, especially with lavender oil, can be a promising and complementary option in pain management and enhancing well-being in various clinical settings. However, it is crucial to consider the individuality of each patient and the context when applying this therapeutic approach.
