Abstract
Objective: To identify scientific publications that address nursing theories in the care of elderly people with pressure injuries. Methods: Integrative review carried out in December 2022 in the VHL, PudMed, SciELO databases with articles published in English, Spanish or Portuguese, between 2018 and 2022. The data was subjected to thematic content analysis. Results: 14 studies made up the analysis corpus, 64.3% of these coming from the VHL, 28.6% from SciELO and 7.1% from PubMed. Dorothea Orem's Self-Care Theory was identified in 21.4% of publications, followed by Betty Neuman's Systems Theory; Comfort Theory by Katherine Kolcaba and Caring Theory by Kristen Swanson with 14.3% of studies each. Imogene King's Goal Achievement Theory; Jean Watson's theory of human care; Virginia Henderson's Theory of Basic Needs; Dorothy E. Johnson's behavioral system theory; Practical Intervention Theory of Nursing in Public Health appeared in 7.1% of the articles each. Final considerations: Theories are applied in different contexts for the elderly, from diagnosis to intervention and care models, strengthening gerontological nursing, however there was a gap in research on wounds in the elderly in the area of pressure injuries.
