Abstract

Objective: To analyze the prevalence and factors associated with sexual violence against adolescent students in the state of Piauí. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, with secondary data from the 2019 National School Health Survey, collected using forms with sociodemographic, behavioral, sexual, and reproductive health, sociability and body self-image variables. The dependent variable was sexual violence at some point in life. For multivariate analysis, multiple logistic regression was used, obtaining adjusted odds ratios (AOR) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: 5,820 adolescents were interviewed. The prevalence of sexual violence was 4.4% (3.1% in males; 7.4% in females). There was an association of sexual violence with the female sex (AOR=2.37; 95%CI 1.80-3.15), with the use of alcohol (AOR=3.10; 95%CI 2.22;4.54), of cigarettes (AOR=2.66; 95%CI 1.98;3.45) and illicit drugs (AOR=26.55; 95%CI 22.02-33.59), with suffering (AOR=2.35; 95%CI 1.84;3.58) and bullying (AOR=1.52; 95%CI 1.08;2.18), with dissatisfaction with the body (AOR=1.55; 95%CI 1.12;2 .73) and self-perceived fat body (AOR=1.74; 95%CI 1.27;2.41). Conclusion: The prevalence of sexual violence was high, associated with the adolescents' gender and behavioral and body perception factors.
