Abstract

Objective: Relate to vulvovaginal candidiasis caused by intestinal dysbiosis. Bibliographic review: The intestinal microbiota is naturally made up of bacteria, fungi and genetic elements. These microorganisms live in a relationship of mutualism with the host and are fundamental to human well-being and health. However, the loss of this homeostasis favors the establishment of pathologies, including recurrent candidiasis. The relationship between recurrent vulvovaginitis and intestinal dysbiosis lies in the fact that the intestinal microbiota plays a fundamental role in maintaining the balance of the immune system and preventing Candida overgrowth. When intestinal dysbiosis occurs, the immune system is compromised, the intestinal mucosa loses its integrity, promoting an imbalance in the flora and making the body more susceptible to infections. Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis affects thousands of women every day and despite this impact on women's health, there is still no consensus on how this disease should be treated. Final considerations: It is important to understand the relationship between intestinal dysbiosis and recurrent candidiasis, in order to provide prevention, diagnosis and appropriate individualized treatment to offer quality of life to the many women who suffer from this condition.
